Health Insurance

District 51 seeks to provide a quality and affordable health plan for all eligible employees and their families.  Our self-insured medical plan(s) are administered by CNIC Health Solutions.  There are two plans available to eligible employees and their dependents.  Insurance coverage begins the first of the month following 30 consecutive days of employment.  Coverage under the District's health plan includes access to several clinic locations, Canyon View Pharmacy, and Urgent Care.

Dental Insurance

District 51 offers eligible employees a very affordable dental plan which covers two exams in a twelve-month period. It also provides coverage for up to $1,500 of covered dental benefits in each calendar year for diagnostic, preventative, basic, and major services plus $1,500 lifetime orthodontic services.

Vision Insurance

District 51 offers eligible employees a vision care insurance plan through Vision Service Plan (VSP).  Vision Service Plans provides an eye exam, prescription glasses and frames, or contacts once every twelve months and costs less than $10 per month for an employee.

Welldyne RX

The District offers $0 co-pay for over the counter drugs (including Prilosec OTC, Pepcid AC, Tagament, Alavert, Claritin, Zyrtec OTC, Aleve, Tylenol PM, Advil PM and Corowise) when prescribed by a physician in lieu of a prescription drug.  Mail order prescription service provides a 3-month supply for one co-pay.

District Paid Life Insurance

Group life insurance (MetLife) is provided to employees who work 20 or more hours per week at no cost to the employee. The values of the districts life insurance is double the employee's annual salary (four times the annual salary in the event of an accidental death, not to exceed $300,000).

 

Section 125 Flex and Voluntary Products (administrated through AFLAC)

District 51 offers its eligible employees additional products and services provided by Aflac including Accident, Critical Illness, Short-term disability, and Hospital Indemnity policies. Contact Aflac for more information about other available products.

Unreimbursed Medical (Flexible Spending Account) and Dependent Care Reimbursement (administrated through WageWorks)

District 51 offers its eligible employees additional products and services provided by Aflac including Unreimbursed Medical and Dependent Care Reimbursement.  Available with initial enrollment or at open enrollment.

Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA)

The Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) provides retirement and other benefits to employees of the State of Colorado and school districts. For most members, PERA serves as a substitute for Social Security. PERA provides benefits to your when you retire or are disabled, or to family after death. In addition, PERA members may take advantage of voluntary programs offered by PERA such as life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and long term care insurance.

As an employee of a PERA-affiliated employer, you contribute to Colorado PERA instead of Social Security. You contribute 8 percent of your monthly salary to your PERA member account. These contributions are tax-deferred until they are returned to your either through a refund or a monthly benefit. District 51 also contributes a percentage of its total payroll to PERA. These contributions are deposited with other employer contributions in a pooled pension trust fund. If you refund your account, you will receive a portion of these funds.
